1999
February
Nokia Telecommunications and Pannon GSM extends the validity of their long term general agreement made on the provision of GSM equipment, so, prolonging again the first general agreement made with Nokia in 1993, Nokia remains the only GSM equipment supplier of Pannon GSM in 1999 as well. According to the new, two-year agreement, the equipment Nokia is to deliver to Pannon GSM in 1999-2000 is worth approximately 100 million DM.
March
On the 4th of March, Pannon GSM opens its biggest provincial regional Service Center in Salgótarján, which is the 22nd.
April
From the 1st of April, in connection with the TV programs Tények (Facts) and Jó estét, Magyarország (Good evening Hungary!), GSM subscribers may send short text messages from their mobile handsets to a predefined TV teletext page. The SMS'es service makes it possible for more than a million GSM subscribers to ask questions and articulate opinions about the themes of the above TV programs. It is the first time in Hungary that TV viewers are enabled to communicate their instant reactions to the news via the teletext system of the Television.

On the 11th of May it is the 5th time that Pannon GSM and the National Gallery of Hungary makes a long term agreement according to which Pannon GSM becomes the main patron of the National Gallery of Hungary with the aim of supporting the protection and public presentation of the works of art of the Gallery. Pannon GSM opens its 23rd Regional Service Center in Siófok. The 9th switching center of Pannon GSM opened in Pécs.

Pannon GSM is the host of the 8th Nokia Users Group Conference taking place in Hungary (East-Central Europe) for the first time, from 7th to 9th June 1999.

New Service Center in opens in Pólus Center, Budapest.

After the Service Center in Gyor, Pannon GSM opens its second Service Center in Gyor-Moson-Sopron County, in Sopron.
The 26th Service Center opens in Szekszárd.
A year has passed since Pannon GSM and Danubia Youth Symphonic Orchestra signed an agreement on Pannon GSM supporting the concerts of the season. In the future Pannon GSM aims at continuing its functioning as a significant patron of the Hungarian cultural life, so the financial assistance granted to Danubia Youth Symphonic Orchestra is doubled to provide a firm financial basis for the work of the orchestra and to enable even higher quality productions in the season of 1999-2000.

Two new Service Centers open: one in Tatabánya and one in Budapest.
In 1999 the number of Pannon GSM subscribers grow with approximately 270 000, which is more than 65%. The number of subscribers rises to near 670 000. The number of switch centers is nine, there are more than 1000 base stations and 26 Service Centers, the number of retail shops are approximately 350, and the number of employees is around 1000. Pannon GSM enters into a roaming co-operation with more than 130 GSM network operators.

February
The 8th mobile switching center is put in operation in the town of Szeged.
March
Pannon GSM first in Hungary to provide underground coverage by extending the GSM system to a section of the Budapest subway.
For the fourth time, Pannon GSM acts as the main sponsor for one of the most distinguished institutions of Hungarian culture, the National Gallery.

Pannon GSM Service Center opens in Zalaegerszeg.
May
Pannon GSM introduces several new solutions at the IFABO fair: its GSM 1800 test systems, its latest service, Internet Directory Inquiries and one of the first Pepsi automat in the world with GSM phone based "remote control".
A new service by CIB Bank Ltd., CIB Mobilbank, enables Pannon GSM subscribers with an account at CIB Bank Ltd. and a subscription to this service at the Bank to receive information immediately on any activity on their private Forint, foreign currency or bank card accounts. In case of debits and credits, the system automatically sends a short text message (SMS'es) to the subscriber's mobile telephone on the transaction and the current account balance.

The number of subscribers reaches 300,000.
Pannon GSM opens its 16th Service Center. The facility, of an approximate value of HUF 35 million, opens in the seat of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County: Szolnok.
July
OTP Bank and Pannon GSM negotiates an agreement for the introduction of an interactive banking service. OTP's Mobil TeleBank service now enables Pannon GSM subscribers to receive and request interactive banking information to their mobile telephones in the form of short text messages (SMS'es). The service is interactive, so the subscriber not only receives a daily automatic current account balance, but can also query the account balance, the activity of any day in the previous month, exchange rates for currencies and foreign exchange quoted by OTP, and the prices of leading stock traded at the Budapest Stock Exchange any time of the day, by simply sending an SMS'es message.
September
On September 12, starting at 00.00, the process of converting all mobile telephone numbers for both Hungarian GSM providers from 6 to 7 digits is completed in a few hours. GSM numbers in Hungary now have a leading 9.

A Pannon GSM Service Center opens in the town of Békéscsaba.

The 4th Budapest Showroom opens in the Rózsakert Shopping Center.
The 20th Service Center opens in Nagykanizsa.

A Pannon GSM Service Center opens in Kaposvár.
The number of active Pannon GSM subscribers exceeds 400,000, with an increase of about 140,000 during 1998. End of the year statistics: eight mobile switching centers, more than 800 base stations, 21 Service Centers all around the country, 350 reseller outlets, more than 760 employees. By the end of the year, Pannon GSM has roaming agreements with 100 GSM providers.

February
Pannon GSM bond issue auctioning is successfully completed. For a HUF 24 billion worth of nominal value offered, offers for a total value of about HUF 30,5 billion were received.
March
Pannon GSM bonds (Élvonal 2000, 2001, 2002) starts trading at the Budapest Stock Exchange.
April
Pannon GSM and T-Mobile Magyarország Rt. are the first two national providers in Europe to establish an SMS'es-connection within the same country.
May
Four new services are introduced: Pannon Mobile Post, Zöldszám (Green Number), Kékszám (Blue Number), SMS'es Courier.
Stolen handsets are muted: Pannon GSM joins to the CEIR, the international Central Equipment Identity Register for GSM providers.
